Meet Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity.

The Future is Bright

In the heart of Boise, amidst the rolling hills and under the vast Idaho sky, Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity will welcome its most recent family, the Aldulaimi and Alhilal family, into the warmth of a new home in Star, Idaho. Aladdin, a resilient man who had served as an interpreter for the U.S. military in Iraq, bore the scars of his service, his leg amputated due to an IED explosion, courtesy of Al Qaeda. His wife, Raghad, stood by his side, her strength unwavering, as they embarked on this new chapter of their lives. Alongside them were their two children, Yosif and Mariam, who brought a spark of hope and dreams for the future.

Yosif dressed as a doctor, holding a prosthetic leg.

Yosif, their seven-year-old son, is a beacon of inspiration within the family. He is not merely a witness to his father’s monthly doctor's appointments; he is a constant source of support and love. With unwavering determination, Yosif attends every one of his father’s appointments, his eyes wide with curiosity, absorbing the intricate details of his father's medical journey.

During one of these visits, the staff at the hospital recognized Yosif's unwavering dedication and budding passion for medicine. To honor his commitment, they bestowed upon him a name badge and a small white coat, transforming him into a pint-sized healer. This simple gesture lit a fire within Yosif's young heart. Inspired by the doctors and nurses he observed, he nurtured a dream - to become a doctor himself, one day, and bring healing to others, just like the medical professionals he admired.

In their new Habitat home, the Aldulaimi and Alhilal family will find not just a shelter, but a sanctuary of dreams. Yosif's future room, adorned with posters of the human body and medical instruments, reflects his passion for medicine. Family dinners will become a time of sharing stories and nurturing aspirations. Raghad and Aladdin, their hearts swelling with pride, support their son's dreams wholeheartedly, knowing that Yosif's ambition will one day touch lives.

Yosif's dream of becoming a doctor can now become more than just a child's fantasy. Through affordable homeownership, Yosif’s family can put down roots and worry less about finances and more about hope. Yosif’s dream can now become a beacon of hope, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and a tribute to the sacrifices his family has made for a better life. Habitat will not just provide them with a home; it will provide Yosif with a canvas upon which he can paint his dreams, a foundation upon which he can build his future. The little boy who attended every one of his father's appointments, who wore a tiny white coat with pride, is destined for greatness, his journey illuminated by the unwavering support of his family and the community that will embrace them.
